Joe graduated the University of Maryland in 1981 with a degree in Theater Arts. Since then he has had a few one acts performed off Broadway and several full lengths produced in the Baltimore area. He is a 4 time Maryland Arts Council “Excellence in Playwriting” award winner. Most recently he was named Baltimore City Paper’s Best Playwright in 2004. Over the past 3 decades he has had many productions via the Baltimore Playwright’s Festival and hopes to be produced there again in the not too distant future. Joe’s biggest influences were Tennessee Williams, Edward Albee, Mamet, Brecht, Pinter, Rod Serling and to a certain extent Neil Simon. He considers himself a dark humorist with absurdist tendencies. His many stories have dealt with the war in Vietnam, Alzheimer’s, baseball and the war between the sexes which he admits to losing.
